Accidental Genius - circa 2019

Years and years of crafting here and there landed me with my foot in my mouth, May 2019.  My daughter announced her pregnancy and I immediately placed my claim on the baby shower rights!  I mean, I'm a southern momma and this is my first grand baby, so back off Karen because I've got this! haha 

So my baby girl, Trinitie, starts belting out the wish list for all this personalized stuff she wants for the shower.  Fast forward to the thousands of dollars my very tom-girl daughter decided I was going to spend for this baby shower, I proceed to tell her how she's lost her damn mind, and I decide to invest in a very popular brand craft cutting machine (they ain't paying so I ain't saying, lol).  "Mom you've wanted to buy that thing for years, so stop giving me a hard time over it!"  She was right, but don't tell her I said that...

Trial and error trying to learn said machine forced me into just shy of 347 "How to groups" on social media.  I'm introduced to epoxy crafting, and let's just say there were a ton of videos and saved posts that clogged up my feed.  I decided that I was getting through the planning and execution of this baby shower and then we were going to get involved in this tumbler world. Btw, I am not a good paper crafter.  It's just not in my wheelhouse unless it's going to be on a cup.  I'll admit it.

Some of the work these ladies and gentlemen were belting out was nothing less than STUNNING, but after a few weeks of paying full attention to the craft, I noticed a trend of the same damn thing over and over.  Fun, cute, and owed it's credit due, but that wasn't me.  I'm not a mainstream person and if we're being honest here, I like bucking the system (just a little).  I started learning how epoxy worked, did some research on reactions, mediums, how I could manipulate it a little differently than everyone else, and BAM!!!

Ronnie built me my first two turners, and we sat at the kitchen table experimenting with the first 5 cups I ever turned out.  They were cute, but I found out I had a talent for the manly look...  

Fast forward a few months and I really got to work on some "new" stuff.  Some driven by my pre-teen son Trevor (who likes to take credit for the designs because on that rare occasion he emerges from his "gameroom," he'll make a comment in those 23 seconds that alters my thought process.)  My girlfriend Rachel saw some of the work, called me a genius, to which I replied with Ummmm... half of those were happy accidents.  I'll let you guess her reply :)
